How hard is it to understand and trust another person? Perhaps, sometimes, we are too confused to even understand ourselves that we forget to spend time understanding the other human being next to us. I think when you try to understand others, you will find out more about yourself in the process. Then there's a possibility that because of this, some of us try to avoid doing so. Who you are is not and cannot be defined by anyone other than you. Many of us often times feel weak and unable to trust ourselves. Everyday we wake up, there are decisions to be made. Do I stay in bed for five more minutes or do I jump out immediately? We face decisions continuously through out the day. When one makes a decision, he can be right, or he can be wrong. The memory of wrong one's are all too clear, especially one's made in public. Regardless, we feel weak whenever we make a wrong decision. When a child makes a wrong decision, people just teach him the right one. The child accepts it because he knows that he does not know. When an adult makes a wrong decision, he usually gets critisized as if the meaning of adulthood is synonymous to perfection. Thus many adults are unwilling to make mistakes, the wrong decisions. Since whenever one has to make a decision, he has a chance to be wrong, many of us avoid decision making like the plague. We forget that the reason we remember wrong decisions more clearly is because that's when we learn. It isn't pretty, but the truthof "learning from one's own mistake" is undeniable. Even though many try to avoid decision making, it is unavoidable. However, we often unconsciously shift our responsibility to make our own decision to others. Small scale, "Do you think red looks better on me or blue?" Big scale, "<Insert Name Here> on TV said this is better."
