Writing : Sorrow |
|
You should not avoid feelings such as sorrow and despair, for we were made to be capable of feeling them. If they were unnecessary, we would not be able to have them. Nature does not create unnecessary things. We do not have wings, because we were not meant to fly, and flying was not a necessity to us. We cannot breath water, because water breathing was not a necessity to us. We do not have compound eyes like the insects, because we do not need them. We do not have protective shells or barks, because we do not need them. We have opposable thumbs because it is necessary. We stand on two feet, because it is necessary. We have cognitive thoughts, we can reason, because they are what allows us to be what we are. We feel joy, we feel hope. But we are also designed to feel sorrow, to feel despair, because it is necessary and essential to have them. One that only feels joy and comfort, never sorrow and despair cannot be a fully functional human being. |
